Meredith

Meredith Bates Bishop is in her twelfth year as the Director of Bands for Pearland Junior High West and Sablatura Middle School and has over eighteen years’ experience teaching in Pearland ISD. She teaches the beginning horn, trumpet, and flute classes, the varsity level Honors Band and serves as the electives team department head. She graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Music Education and Honors College degree. Her bands consistently earned all first division sweepstakes ratings at the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation. In 2017 and 2019, the Pearland JH West Honors Band finished as a state finalist and in 2022 as a state semi-finalist in the Texas Music Educators Association Honor Band Competition. In 2017, Mrs. Bishop was named the PJH West Teacher of the Year. In 2024, PJH will be performing at the Music for All National Festival. She is an Active Member of the Texas Music Adjudicators Association, Texas Music Educators Association, the Texas Bandmasters Association, and is the Region 19 Band Representative for the UIL/TMEA Music Advisory Committee. In addition, she was instrumental in creating the Pearland ISD Instrument Inventory Management Systems and has served as the District Instrument Inventory Coordinator for 18 years.
