Dan

Dan Miner is a full-time choral educator in the metropolitan area of Houston, TX. He holds degrees from Michigan State University in both music education and piano and has experience teaching choir at both the middle school and high school levels. Choirs under his direction have earned consistent "Sweepstakes" awards at the Texas UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Evaluation. Additionally, he is an active clinician, adjudicator, and has presented several professional development workshops at local at state levels on developing tenor-bass singer tone, sight reading pedagogy and curriculum, building musicality and musicianship skills, and literature selection.

As a composer, Dan is the author of several sight-singing resources including his D/M Music Sight Reading Series for contest preparation, Sight-Sing to Success! for Texas All-State audition preparation, Quick Start Sight Reading, and Ensemble Sight Singing. His concert works have been featured at various reading sessions across the country, and many have also been premiered or performed by convention honor choirs including at the 2021 & 2024 Texas Choral Directors Association Convention in San Antonio, TX, the 2024 SWACDA Convention in Denver, CO, and the 2026 OkMEA Winter Conference in Tulsa, OK. His piece ¿Que es la vida? is the winner of the 2024 Emily Crocker Emerging Composer Competition and received its premiere at the 2024 Texas Choral Directors Association Convention. His compositions and arrangements are currently published with Alliance Music Publications, BriLee Music Publishing, Carl Fischer Publishing, D/M Music, and the Hal Leonard Corporation with both vocal and instrumental works in print.

An active accompanist, Dan also serves as Organist at Clear Lake United Methodist Church and is a regular accompanist for a variety of performances across the Houston area.

Dan is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), Texas Music Adjudicators’ Association (TMAA), the Texas Music Educators’ Association (TMEA), and the Texas Choral Directors Association (TCDA).
